Worcester – Robert E. Stacey, 79, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at UMass Memorial Health - Harrington Hospital, Southbridge on Friday, July 5, 2024. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late M. Joseph and Ruth (Krupa) Stacey and was a lifelong Worcester resident.
Robert was a graduate of Worcester Academy, and he went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in English from Clark University and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School. Robert worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in several capacities, including data processing for the Division of Employment Security starting in 1968 and as an Assistant District Attorney for Plymouth County starting in 1982. He also maintained a private law practice for many years and was still working up until his passing. Robert had a passion for cars and motorcycles, especially antiques, and enjoyed leisurely drives. He was a long-time member of the Rutland Sportsman’s Club.
Robert will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 44 years, Marcia (McMenimen) Stacey; his sons, M Joseph Stacey II of Worcester, Robert W. Stacey and his wife, Megan of Toluca Lake, CA, and Christopher S. Stacey and his wife, Patricia of Mansfield; his grandchildren, Sabrina, Fintan, Madeline, Kaitlyn, J.J., and Jennifer; and his sister-in-law, Patricia Pietropaolo, and her children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Marlene Marcus and his daughter-in-law, Tara Keegan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17th, at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606.
