WEST BROOKFIELD – Robert James “Scottie” Scott, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 25, 2018 after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family.He was born on March 4, 1945 to Gilbert and Margaret (McClay) Scott. Raised in the family homestead in Jefferson, he graduated from Wachusett Regional High School, and earned an associate’s degree at Worcester Junior College. Scottie joined the Service Department at Sunnyside Motors in Holden in 1968, where he loyally and joyfully served thousands of customers for 49 years.He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 50 years, Nancy (Enman) Scott; his daughters, Jennifer DuBos and her husband, Steve of Washington, DC and Robyn Scott and her husband, Benjamin Tweraser of West Brookfield; his granddaughter, Shannon; his grandson, Adam; his brother, Gilbert Scott, Jr. of Misquamicut, RI; his sisters, Margaret Rotti and her husband, Albert, Jr. of West Boylston and Audrey Cole of North Eastham; his sisters-in-law, Janet Enman and Amy Cummings and her husband Paul, both of Rutland; and countless beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.Scottie was a great storyteller, an avid NASCAR fan (long before it was popular!), enjoyed taking road trips to visit and spend time with family and friends, and was a tomato-growing whisperer. Above all he was a kind, humble, gentle soul with a contagious laugh, twinkling eyes and an easy manner that endeared him to all those lucky enough to cross his path. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Overlook Visiting Nurses Association/Hospice Care for making Robert’s last days with his family and friends comfortable and peaceful.A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3rd at the First Congregational Church, 36 North Main Street, West Brookfield. There are no calling hours and interment will be privately held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Congregational Church, West Brookfield.
