CHARLTON - Robert David “Raz” Raczynski, 57, of Charlton and formerly of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He leaves his fiancée, Sharon L. Frawley of Charlton; his two daughters, Nicole Louise Dougherty and her husband, John E. Dougherty, Jr. of Webster, Michelle Lee Raczynski and her partner, John Suprenant of Spencer; his granddaughter, Olivia Louise Dougherty; his mother, Rita C. (Gebhart) Raczynski of Worcester; his brother, Stephen P. Raczynski of Enfield, CT; his sister, Nora M. O’Loughlin and her husband, Michael J. O’Loughlin; his nieces, Alycia K. O’Loughlin and her fiancé, Matthew B. Welsh of Worcester and Ashley R. O’Loughlin of Worcester; his godmother, Doris (Dufault) Gebhart of Westborough; his aunt, Mary J. (Gebhart) van Dan of Remer, MN; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Walter J. Raczynski; his godfather, Joseph F. Gebhart, Jr.; his two uncles, Theodore J. Raczynski and Francis A. van Dan; and his aunt, Shirley (Field) Raczynski.
Raz attended Burncoat Grammar School, Forest Grove Junior High School and graduated from the former Worcester Boys Trade High School as an automotive technician. He independently attained his Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), and was later awarded his Certified Master Mechanic Advanced Level certificate. After working at several auto repair shops, including Cranston’s in West Boylston, he opened his own business, Raz’s Auto Repair in Charlton, which he operated until July of 2013, closing due to his illness. Raz was beloved by his family, his friends and his customers. He was especially known for his good humor and everyone will remember his beaming smile and the kindness he showed to others at all times.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Raz’s family on Wednesday, July 2, from 4-8 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A service honoring and celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
