Biography
RUTLAND – Robert J. Quiry, 73, passed away on August 3, 2013, at UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Campus after a brief illness. He was born in Worcester, the son of Wilfred and Louise (Groccia) Quiry and lived in Rutland for 41 years.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Barbara M. (Sidloski) Quiry; a son, Robert J. Quiry, Jr. and his wife Darlene of Paxton; a daughter, Lynn M. Quiry Morin of Bethel, ME; two brothers, Wilfred Quiry, Jr. and his wife Sandie of Jefferson and Richard Quiry and his wife Annmarie of Milford; three sisters, Vana Oslowski and her husband Edward of Worcester, Doreen Bove and her husband Frank of Auburn and Donna Vitale and her husband Dan Green of Las Vegas, NV; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Bob graduated from Milford High School in 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for two years attaining the rank of SP4. Later in life, he returned to school and earned his Associates degree from Quinsigamond Community College. Bob was a self-employed brick layer and plasterer by trade, but his true passion was music. Known as “A Man and His Music”, Bob loved to sing and entertain wherever he went, especially at weddings and area nursing homes. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at 12 noon on Thursday, August 8, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
