RUTLAND - Robert "Bob" Puliafico, 77, of Rutland, passed away at home on July 21, after an illness.
He leaves his wife, Corrine (Smith) Puliafico, of Rutland, his son Steve and his wife, Missy of Rutland, his daughter, Gayla Bieksha and her husband Steve of Hubbardston, and his daughter Amy Puliafico of Worcester, and his grandchildren Casey, Troy, Carson, Alison and Benjamin. He also leaves his brother, Paul Puliafico and his wife, Missy of Worcester and nieces and nephews. Also two very good friends, Bill Regienus and Mark O"Connor.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Dorothy (Weighill) Puliafico, his brother Charlie Puliafico and his sisters, Cindy Clarkson and Laurie Puliafico.
He was born and grew up in Barre. He graduated from Barre High School in 1964. He worked for the Barre Highway Dept and was a member of the Barre Fire Dept. Bob moved to Rutland in 1973. He was a member of the Rutland Fire Dept and the Rutland Fire Brigade and ran on the Rutland Muster Team. He was also a member of the Rutland Sportsman’s Club and the Hubbardston Rod and Gun Club where he sponsored and played on a softball team for many years. When he "retired" from playing, he enjoyed going to the games where he watched the next two generations of his family play ball. Bob also enjoyed his two trips a year up North to play golf with the Chestna gang.
He owned and operated Bob Puliafico Lawn Sprinkler Service for many years.
His family would like to thank the staff at Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center and Notre Dame Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Bob and his family.
A memorial service honoring and celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at First Congregational Church, 264 Main St., Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame Hospice, 559 Plantation St., Worcester, Ma. 01605.
