WORCESTER – Robert P. O’Malley, Sr., 57, of 1194 Main Street and formerly of Rutland, died on Monday, January 10, 2005 in Autumn Village, Worcester after an illness.
He leaves a son, Robert P. O’Malley, Jr. of Worcester; a daughter, Linda J. O’Malley of Worcester; a brother, Philip O’Malley of Auburn; a sister, Judith Dorney of Mansfield; a grandchild, Caius Spring of Worcester; his former wife, Judith L. O’Malley of Worcester; many nephews and nieces. A brother, James O’Malley, Jr., predeceased him. He was born in Clinton, the son of James and Jeanne (LaPlante) O’Malley, and lived many years in both Rutland and Worcester.
Mr. O'Malley was the head groundskeeper at the former Rutland Height’s Hospital in Rutland where he worked for 23 years. He later operated a coffee shop for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind in Worcester for 10 years.
A funeral Mass for Mr. O’Malley will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12, in St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will be private in St. John’s Cemetery, Parker Road, Lancaster/Clinton. There are no calling hours.
