HOLDEN – Robert P. Grady, 77, of Main Street, died peacefully under the loving care of his family and the staff at the Life Care Center in Auburn on Saturday, December 17, 2011. He was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island the son of Edmund and Madeline (Magnan) Grady.
Bob joined the United States Air Force in 1952 and proudly served his country for 20 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. While in the service, Bob served as a firefighter and later as a firefighter supervisor and traveled extensively around the world including Japan where he met the love of his life Fumie Hosoya. They retired to Holden in 1972.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the Boylston Lodge of Masons and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6907, both in West Boylston. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Fumie (Hosoya) Grady; two sons, Robert M. Grady and his wife Judy of Webster and Mance Grady and his wife Lori of Cumberland, Rhode Island; a sister, Gloria Liard of Woonsocket; two grandchildren, Richard and Cullen Grady; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Grady of Holden. Two brothers, Edmund and Normand, predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A private funeral service honoring Bob’s life will be held at the funeral home. Burial will be at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veteran’s Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
