WORCESTER – Robert “Bob” L. Stewart, 90, a long time resident of Paxton, passed away on June 17, 2015 at Knollwood Nursing Center after an illness. He was born and raised in Worcester, the son of Albert E. and Mildred V. (Upham) Stewart and attended Worcester public schools and graduated from Becker College.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Janice D. (Savage) Stewart; two children, Bruce Stewart and his wife, Linda of Hyannis and Denise Sanabria and her husband, Roberto of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Justine Conlon of Worcester; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Stewart.
Robert was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He owned and operated High Fidelity House in Worcester and Pull-Over Corporation in Shrewsbury. Robert was a member of the First Congregational Church of Paxton and served on the Paxton Conservation Commission for 28 years. He was a 32 degree mason and was a member of the Athelstan and Rufus Putnam Lodges and was a member of the Melha Shriners in Springfield. In his spare time, Robert loved to play tennis and played until the age of 85.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family on Saturday, June 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A private committal service will be held at Mooreland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
