HOLDEN – Robert L. Elms of 143 Nola Drive died Saturday, May 28, 2005, in his home surrounded by his family.
He leaves Mary, his wife of 54 years; three sons, Brian, Eric and Paul; two grandchildren, Jessica and Scott; and two close family friends, Joanne LeDoyen and David Dagneau. He was predeceased by sons’ Mark and Scott. He served his country in the Navy during World War II and participated in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of operation. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and a consultant in diamond powder metallurgy. Bob, an avid hiker and camper was involved with the Boy Scouts for over 59 years, 40 years with Troop 180 in Holden. He was active with the Midstate Trail and Greenways (Rail Trails).
A memorial service for Mr. Elms will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, in the First Congregational Church, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wachusett Greenways, P.O. Box 121, Holden, MA 01520; or Midstate Trail, c/o Mark Dubois, 2 Westinghouse Parkway, Worcester, MA 01606. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
