Robert "Bob" Lavine

November 10, 1934 — October 2, 2024

WORCESTER - Robert Lavine, 89, of Worcester and Naples Florida, passed away on October 2, 2024, after a recent illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Percy Lavine of Worcester and his sister Joanne I. Silverman.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 plus years, Jane Lavine (Levine), and devoted sons, David Lavine and his wife, Janet Lavine, of Westborough, Alan Lavine and his wife, Stacie Lavine, of Holden, and his cherished grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew, Kylie, and Duncan. Bob also leaves numerous relatives on the east and west coast.
Bob, affectionately known as BL, was the 2nd generation owner and President of Percy's TV and Appliance in Worcester since 1963. He grew up in Worcester, attended Suffield Academy where he played baseball, basketball and soccer, and attended Babson and Nichols College. After serving in the Army, he came home to help his father in the family business. When his boys were older, Bob’s wife Jane joined him at Percys, and they worked together for many years. After his sons graduated college, Bob insisted that they worked for a few years on their own as he didn’t want them to feel pressured to join the business. Eventually David and Alan joined Percy’s, making it a true family operation. Bob took pride in his store and enjoyed the many relationships he made over the years with his customers, business owners, employees, and vendors. Bob was a great storyteller and always made time to sit in his office to share stories, often citing baseball analogies into every story.
Bob was a long-time season ticket holder of the Red Sox and Patriots, and enjoyed sharing his passion with his grandchildren. Bob loved the beach and traveled all over the world with his wife Jane.
Bob’s greatest accomplishment was his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he made sure to attend all of their sporting events, school activities, and dance recitals. He loved to share his wisdom, encouraging them to work hard, be happy and healthy, and to make time to enjoy life. He was so proud of them and the closeness they all share. They all adored their papa and his legacy will live on with his family. Bob was a true home run!
Funeral Services will be private per his request. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
