Holden, MA – Robert H. James, 82, of 456 Wachusett Street, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 in the Worcester Medical Center at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Eva E. (Pepin) James; six daughters, Alison H. and her husband Frank J. Bartczak of Spencer, Lisa E. and her husband David D. Malatos of Leominster, Cynthia and her husband Ralph Robbins of Bar Harbor, Maine, Betsy and her husband Steven Hatch of Chelsea, Maine, Debra and her husband Robert Atwood of Machias, Maine, and Holly and her husband Bruce Mooers of Gardiner, Maine; two step-sons, Edward J. Sokolowski of Bourne and Andrew R. Sokolowski of Worcester; a sister, Charlotte Holbrook of Dunedin, Florida; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was born in Leominster, son of William H. and Helen (Howe) James, and was a Army Veteran of World War II.
Mr. James owned and operated the Leominster Press and later worked for the Clinton Item. He was a member of the Wilder Lodge of Masons in Leominster, a 32nd degree Mason including the Scottish Rite Bodies of Worcester and the Boston Consistory. He was also a member of Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington. He enjoyed Polka Dancing and working around the yard.
Mr. James’s funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2004, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Evergreen Cemetery, Main Street, Leominster. Calling hours are from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on May 27 in the funeral home.
