Bow, NH - Robert "Bob" Brotherton, 79, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, with his family by his side.
Bob was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on December 25, 1930 to Harry and Ida Brotherton. He spent his youth in Auburn and was a graduate of Auburn High School and Powers School of Business in Worcester. Bob served in the Air Force from 1951-1955. Following the military he attended Boston University where he graduated in 1958. He worked for State Mutual of America from 1958-1965. Bob married Melinda (Turner) in 1959 in Worcester. They moved to New Hampshire in 1965, where they raised their family in Bow. He worked for the State of New Hampshire for over 30 years. He audited for the Legislative Budget Office and then worked for the New Hampshire Lottery. He retired from the New Hampshire Lottery in 1996 as Assistant Director and Chief Financial Officer. Bob was a member of the Masons in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Melinda (Turner) Brotherton; his son, Scott Brotherton of Fulton, New York, and a daughter, Heather (Brotherton) wife of Rob Lindgren of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and two grandchildren, Olivia and Wright Lindgren also of Ridgefield, Connecticut.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord, New Hampshire. The funeral will be held at Saint Marks Church, 0 Freeland Street, Worcester, Massachusetts at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A) is assisting the family with local arrangements.
