RUTLAND – Robert Guillotte, 88, a resident of Rutland for over 65 years, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Radius Health Care of Worcester after an illness. He was born and raised in North Oxford, the son of Dona E. and Elmira (Berry) Guillotte and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1941.
His wife of 56 years, Marjorie Marie (Tibbetts) Guillotte, passed away in 2003. He leaves a son, Robert D. Guillotte and his wife Pamela of Rutland; a daughter, Janice A. Mahan and her husband Thomas of Charlottesville, VA; four grandchildren, Meghan Bradley and her husband Patrick, Andrew Guillotte and his girlfriend Barbara, Steven Guillotte and his wife Lisa and Michael Guillotte and his wife Claudia; four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Sophie, Owen and Liam.
Robert was an aviation machinist mate second class with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, American Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Bob owned and operated Center Auto Body in Rutland with his son for many years retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Rutland Sportsman’s Club, the Capt. Albert H. Prouty VFW Post 3439 in North Brookfield, the Young-Richardson American Legion Post 59 in Hillsboro, NH and was a former member of St. Patrick’s Church. Robert was an avid New England sports fan, enjoyed fishing and was known for his custom fly ties.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Funeral services for Robert will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 15, in the funeral home. A committal service will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Summit ElderCare, Activities Fund, 277 East Mountain Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
