Robert W. Gordon, Sr.

STERLING - Robert. W. "Bob" Gordon, Sr., 79, beloved husband of Kathleen M. (Forte) Gordon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus after a period of declining health. Born in Clinton and raised in Sterling, Bob was the son of the late George and Harriet Gordon.

After graduating from Wachusett High School, he met his future bride, Kathleen Forte. They were married on April 4, 1964, and together they raised their two children in Sterling. Bob served as a proud member of the Sterling Fire Department and was employed with the Sterling Department of Public Works, both for 33 years.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and cutting wood. For more than thirty years, Bob and his family enjoyed camping at Lamb City in Phillipston, where Bob was famous for making Sunday breakfast for many hungry campers. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed clog dancing and playing the drums.

He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen; his daughter, Debra Lee and her partner Joseph Marhefka III of Clinton; his son, Robert Gordon Jr., and his wife Tanya of Clinton; three grandchildren; Alicia Lee, Chelsea Dickson and Zachary Gordon; one great-grandson, Eric Dickson; a sister, Judy Forte and her husband, Richard of Hubbardston; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27 in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. A funeral service honoring his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28 in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sterling Fire Fighters Association P.O. Box 1081, Sterling, MA 01564.
