HOLDEN/BOYSLTON - Robert W. Eaton, Sr., 90, passed away peacefully after an illness on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 under the loving care of his family and the dedicated staff at Knollwood Nursing Center in Worcester. He was born and raised in Worcester, the son of Charles S. and Edith (Lundeen) Eaton and lived over 30 years in Boylston before moving to Holden in 2007.His beloved wife of 69 years, Claire M. (Peterson) Eaton, passed away on April 15, 2017. He leaves his son, Robert Eaton, Jr. and his wife, Jane of Boylston; two daughters, Debra Ellis and her husband, Richard of Boylston and Sandra Holloway and her husband, Robert of Douglas; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.Robert graduated from North High School class of 1945, New England School of Accounting, and the American Institute of Banking. He worked at Worcester County Institution for Savings for over 50 years. After retiring from banking, Robert spent the following 10 years working as a self-employed real estate appraiser. He enjoyed Masonry and was the oldest living Past Master of the Montacute Lodge of Masons in Worcester which recently merged with Boylston Lodge of Mason in West Boylston. Robert was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Valley of Worcester, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Bodies, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington, Worcester County Shrine Club, and a Past Master of Alethea Grotto in West Boylston. He also was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston and the Appalachian Mountain Club Trailblazers. He enjoyed hiking and other outdoor activities with his family.Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 1 to 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 6, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden followed by a memorial service honoring his life at 2:30 pm in the funeral home. The Rev. George Vogel will be officiating. Boylston Lodge of Masons will be conducting a ritual service at 1:30 pm. Interment will be held privately at Pine Grove Cemetery in Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 (
