STERLING – Robert F. Burns, Jr., 73, of Boutelle Road, died peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness. Born in Worcester, he was the son of Robert F. and Ruth G. (Cobb) Burns, Sr. and lived over 50 years in Sterling.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Lois J. (Hall) Burns; his children Robert F. Burns III of Abington and Susan C. VanAbs and her husband Andrew of Canaan, NH.
Bob was a graduate of Wachusett Regional High School and Worcester Junior College. He was a professional photographer and the manager of Rich Studios in Worcester where he worked for 25 years. He also owned and operated three Santa Village Photo Centers in Putney, VT, North Pole, NY and San Bernardino, CA. He drove school buses for Robert L. McCarthy & Son Bus Co. in Brookfield where he often reflected on the fact that he saw children grow from elementary to high school ages.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 7, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte.12), Sterling. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, in the funeral home with the Rev. Ann Burgdorf officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Memorial donations may be made to the Concordia Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 84 Murray Avenue, Worcester, MA 01610.
