Robert A. Bernatchez

RUTLAND - Robert A. Bernatchez, 89, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.

He was the son of the late Bertrand and Yvonne (St. Armand) Bernatchez. Robert is predeceased by his brothers, George, Maurice and Ernest. He is survived by his sisters, Jeanne Bernatchez and Marie Ruchala and his baby brother, Francis Bernatchez. Robert leaves many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Robert lived in Hawaii for 54 years where he enjoyed an entrepreneurial lifestyle. He found joy in life through his long-time bartending career in the business district of Honolulu. It was in the Cheerio Room where Robert's personality flourished. He served many customers who became life-long friends and business partners.

Robert's passion was raising and showing champion pure-bred dogs. His success lead him to breed generations of dogs to share with others.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at St. Patrick's Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, 96 Goodrich Street, Fitchburg.

In lieu of flowers, your kind donations may be made to the Rutland Food Pantry via St. Patrick's Church in Rutland.
