STERLING – Robert R. Beland, 82, died on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital after an illness. He was born and raised in Leominster, the son of Arthur H. and Cecile (Bergeron) Beland and had lived in Sterling the past fifty years.
He leaves his loving wife of 51 years, Constance J. (Leger) Beland; five sons, Stephen A. Beland of Seoul, South Korea, Christopher J. Beland and his wife, Ainee, of Sterling, Daniel R. Beland and his wife, Carrie, of Templeton, Brian D. Beland and his wife, Dianna, of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY and Michael P. Beland of Worcester; three daughters, Elizabeth A. Beland of Sterling, Jennifer M. LeClerc and her husband, David, of Northbridge and Michelle L. Beland of Worcester; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gerard and Joseph A. Beland.
After graduating from high school, Robert served his country and was an Army corporal from 1954 to 1956. He worked for several years at Nypro Inc. in Clinton before retiring in 1997. Previously, he worked at United Beverage Company in Worcester. He was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church and was a former CCD teacher and a Eucharistic Minister. He also was a member of the Retired Men’s Club of Greendale. He loved to spend time with his loving family and dance with his wife, Connie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Funeral services for Robert will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, from the funeral home with a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard of Chichester Food Pantry, P.O.
