HOLDEN - Robert A. Schreiner, M.D., 54, of 61 Willow Brook Road, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, April 24, 2008.
He leaves his wife of 26 years, Janet R. (Marhefka) Schreiner and their two daughters, Amy and Elizabeth of Holden; his father, Ralph W. Schreiner of Clinton; a brother, Richard Schreiner of Clinton; a sister, Jean Marhefka and her husband, Frank of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews. His mother, Regina A. (Kosiewski) Schreiner, passed away last year. Born in Clinton, he resided in North Brookfield before moving to Holden 16 years ago.
Dr. Schreiner was a 1971 graduate of Saint John's High School, a 1975 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, and in 1980 received his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, D.C. He was a primary care physician with Fallon Clinic for past 17 years in Auburn and previously practiced at Ware Hospital and at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
Dr. Schreiner devoted his life to his family and to his practice, and found profound joy in the quiet of fly fishing, the challenge of golf, the freedom of his Harley and the satisfaction of working with wood. He especially cherished the time he spent vacationing with his family on Cape Cod.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 27th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral for Dr. Schreiner will be held on Monday, April 28th, from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster.
