PRINCETON – James R. Lamarche, 73, of 211 East Princeton Road, was stricken ill at home and died on Monday, April 30, 2007 in the UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 36 years, Marrion P. (Lumb) Carlson Lamarche; his son, Raymond B. Carlson and his wife Elizabeth of Rutland; two daughters, Linda L. Rice and her husband Dennis of Oakham and Cindy R. Temple and her husband Robert of Sterling; a brother, Richard Lamarche and his wife Mary of Marlboro; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. A sister, Carole Ann Sullivan, predeceased him. He was born in Newport, Vermont, the son of Oscar and Helen E. (Ross) Lamarche, and lived many years in Sterling and 36 years in Princeton.
Mr. Lamarche was a custodian at the Thomas Prince School in Princeton for 14 years. Previously, he worked on his father’s farm, Sunnyside Farm, in Sterling until the age of 18 and later worked 14 years at Northeast Clark Lift Company in Worcester. He was a 25-year veteran firefighter with the Princeton Fire Department of which 10 years were as an EMT. He also served as a firefighter for the Sterling Fire Department. He was a member of the Elks Club in Clinton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral service for Mr. Lamarche will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Princeton Firefighters Association, Ambulance Fund, 8 Town Hall Drive, Princeton, MA 01541.
