Biography
LEOMINSTER - Richard J. Yakusik, 79, passed away in Florida on Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was born in Worcester and raised in Sterling, the son of Vincent “William” and Mary T. (Thomas) Yakusik and had lived in Leominster for over 50 years.
He leaves three sons, Richard J., Michael and Steven Yakusik, all of Leominster; two daughters, Joanne Lamoureux of Leominster and Dianne DeLucca of Gilford, NH; ten grandchildren, Kelley, Richard, Erica, Christopher, Robert, Jessica, Anthony, Jenna, Madison and Steven; two great grandchildren, Jaycobe and Max; his former wife, Mary Jane (O’Donnell) Doherty of Leominster; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Dogg. He was predeceased by three sisters, Jennie Bimber, Mary Moore and Frances Harmon.
Richard owned and operated Quality Concrete Foundations in Leominster for over 45 years before retiring. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Leominster and was an avid sports fan, traveling and spending time at his second home in Florida.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Funeral services for Richard will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. A committal service will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
