WORCESTER - Richard A. Wackell, 42, died unexpectedly on May 18, 2015 at home.
Rich was born in Worcester and was raised in Holden and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1990. Rich previously owned and operated Wachusett Concrete and was currently working in construction at the time of his passing.
Rich had an outgoing personality and lived each day to its fullest. He was loved by everyone he met. He enjoyed hiking Mount Wachusett, NASCAR races, football and camping, still finding time to do missionary work in the Dominican Republic.
He is survived by his mother, Judith (Day) Wackell; two sisters, Shayne of Ashland and Susan from Delray, Florida; his brother, Joseph of Leicester. He is also survived by his niece, Katelynn whom he adored. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Wackell in October 2014.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 on Friday, May 22 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Rich will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, May 23, with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery in Spencer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter’s Food Pantry.
