Holden - Richard W. "Rich" Nobile, 75, died peacefully with his beloved wife at his side on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School.
Rich graduated with a Bachelors's Degree from Long Island University and later served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Rich went on to become Senior Vice President at Mechanics Bank, Bank of New England and later became Executive Vice President of I-C Federal Credit Union in Fitchburg, retiring after 25 years of service. He always considered his co-workers to be like family and he will be fondly remembered by them all. Rich married his one true love, Beth in 1974. The couple settled in Holden and had two children, two grandchildren, and shared 47 wonderful years together. Although he battled MS courageously for almost 30 years he never complained and never compromised his goals and dreams. His perseverance was truly remarkable.
Rich was known for his sense of humor, dedication to helping others and above all, his love of family. He was known to be the first to laugh at his own jokes and had the ability to bring people together with the telling of one of his stories. Rich was proud to be the Founder and Chairman of the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts and was a Director of the United Way of North Central Massachusetts and served on their Executive Committee as Assistant Treasurer. He was also a Director of the Multi-Service Center and received the organization's Dr. Goldman Award in 1998. Rich was recognized with the 2002 Distinguished Citizen Award given by the Nashua Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America for his many contributions to the community. Rich was a wonderful youth Soccer Coach in Holden for several years. He was an avid runner, skier, and a Keen traveler. Rich loved living in the Season Community and could often be seen spending afternoons in the gazebo. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family and was extremely proud to be a grandfather.
Rich will be lovingly missed and remembered by his beloved wife, Beth M. (Murphy) Nobile; his son, Christopher Nobile of Holden; his daughter, Katherine Ullucci and her husband, Jacob of Norfolk; and his grandchildren, Caroline and Dorothy. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert Nobile.
The Nobile family would like to express their most heartfelt appreciation towards Rich's devoted caretakers, Ellie and Lynnette.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Rich's family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21 at St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Main St., Holden.
