WEST BOYLSTON - Richard H. Mensing, 66, of Laurel St., died May 8, 2013 in Worcester. He was born in Lynn, the son of Herbert P. and Margaret E. (Moran) Mensing and grew up in Clinton.
Richard graduated from St. John's School, Clinton High School and New England School of Accounting. He also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Clark University and a Master's Degree from Anna Maria College. He served in the U.S. Army Finance Corps during the Vietnam era.
He was controller at Nortech Corp. in Clinton for 18 years and operations manager for Advanced Compounding in Cheshire, CT for six years. He also owned Sterling Video and Holden Hardware during the late nineties. He was a fan of the Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots. He coached basketball for several years at the YMCA. He enjoyed projects around the house, crossword puzzles and his annual battle with the lawn which he seldom won. He was not pleased with the current state of the country and often remarked the he was born 25 years too late.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, Becky L. Mensing; two daughters, Karen Sharpe and her husband Jim of Phoenix and Kristen Shulman of Weston; a son, Eric Mensing and his girlfriend Erin Scally of West Boylston; two granddaughters, Janelle Shulman and Lyric Sharpe; and his little dog, Maggie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service honoring Dick’s life at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
