Richard 'Jack' J. Dec

October 22, 1951 — December 8, 2012

PRINCETON/LOWELL – Richard “Jack” J. Dec, 61, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, December 8, 2012.

He leaves his wife of 34 years, Donna M. (Andrews) Dec; two daughters, Priscilla M. (Dec) Lanpher and April S. Dec of Lowell; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Alyssa, Logan, Courtney, Kyle, Isabelle, Reagan and Teegan; his step-mother, Joann Dec of Lowell; a brother, Robert Dec; two sisters, Leeann Nadeau and Mary "Cissy" Farrah both of Lowell; several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Roger “Buddy” Vose and James F. Dec, predeceased him.

Jack was born in Lowell, the son of James Z. Dec and had lived in Lowell for most of his life before moving to Princeton two years ago. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was an industrial roofer for many years at Delta Roofing Company in Billerica before retiring in 2010. Jack devoted most of his life to loving and caring for his wife Donna, who he loved and adored. He was a proud father who cared deeply for his daughters. Jack's pride and joy were his grandchildren. He loved making chocolate chip cookies, going to dance recitals, watching basketball and softball games, judging diving contests, watching the new karate moves, or hearing about the latest video war game. He truly loved and enjoyed every minute with his grandchildren.

Jack enjoyed life to the fullest. His passion was his family, and "family first" was a phrase often said by him. A true man's man, Jack loved his family, his friends, his country, grilling, cooking, the beach, football, the military channel, Spongebob, buffets, sweets, his pets Katy, Koda, Oreo, Tom, and just spending time at home at his "Sandals" resort apartment by the pool, working on his tan with an ice cold beer. He will be remembered as a dedicated husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, loyal brother, protective uncle, and great friend. Jack will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and most of all, by those who loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling.
