EAST BROOKFIELD - Richard “Leepy” J. Lee, Jr., 64, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, in Clearwater, FL, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
He leaves his son, Tommy J. Lee, Sr. and his wife, Corey LH Lee of Leicester; his daughter, Tonya D. Lee of Sanborne, Maine; his sister, Linda A. Lee of Clearwater, FL; his grandson, Tommy J. Lee, Jr.; and his niece, Melissa Alessi. He was predeceased by his father, Richard J. “Dick” Lee, Sr. in 1985 and his mother, Shirley (Bennett) Lee earlier this year.
He was born in Worcester and lived in East Brookfield for most of his life until moving to Clearwater, FL to live with his mother and sister in 1996. Leepy, who was known as an accomplished autobody repairman, owned and operated “Lee Automotive” on Rte. 9, E. Brookfield and worked for Brookfield Motors for many years prior to relocating to Florida. He retired in 2013 from Catalent Pharma Solutions due to his illness.
Leepy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Chapter 3452 and was an avid oval track racing fan. In his early days, he was a member of several local area race teams. His passion for racing led him to be in attendance with his sister and both children at the Daytona 500 in February 2001 where the legendary Dale Earnhardt lost his life in the last lap of that race. Leepy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, outdoors, camping, fishing, watching Nascar racing and golf and taking gaming trips. He often found time to visit his children and grandson, never getting enough crisp, fresh New England air & local seafood.
Friends & family are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, December 13, 2014, from 3-5 p.m. at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A private graveside burial service will be held at the convenience of the family at Evergreen Cemetery, E. Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Richard’s name to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
