Richard A. Henderson

January 11, 1950 — February 13, 2016

HOLDEN - Richard A. Henderson, 66, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 13, 2016 after an illness. He was born in Holden, the son of William T. and Helen A. (Keyser) and had lived most of his life in Holden.



Richard was an engineer for 39 years at Norton Company/Saint-Gobain before retiring in 2012. After retiring, Richard worked part-time at Raps Auto Parts in Auburn. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Clinton and the Auburn/Webster Lodge of Elks #2118. In his spare time, he enjoyed driving around in his Mustang and working on his old cars. He was devoted to his family and he loved to spend as much time as he could with his grandchildren.



He leaves his loving wife and best friend of 36 years, Judy M. (Carlisle) Henderson; two sons, Phillip W. Henderson of Holden and Justin A. Henderson and his wife, Amy of Gardner; two daughters, Cindy Raps and her husband, Paul “Hap” of Webster and Crystal A. Henderson and her companion, Gregory Mello of Sterling; Jill Harrington, mother of his grandson, Devon; a sister, Gail Flanagan and her husband, John of Goffstown, NH; seven grandchildren, Devon, Andrew, Bearett, Emma, Corey, Leanna and Jameson; and many nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Richard will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, in the funeral home. A private committal service will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Auburn/Webster Lodge of Elks, Memorial Scholarship, 754 Southbridge Street, Auburn, MA 01501, or St. Vincent Cancer and Wellness Center, St. Vincent Hospital, 123 Summer Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
