Biography
LEOMINSTER – Richard Frederick “Fred” Mapes, died on Saturday, November 30, 2013, under the loving care of his family and the staff at River Terrace Healthcare in Lancaster. Born in Buffalo, New York on June 26, 1928, Fred was the son of Owen and Esther (Baker) Mapes.
Fred retired from Nypro Co. in Clinton after 27 years of service. He was a charter member of the “English” Seventh Day Adventist Church in Leominster. He loved to read and to go to flea markets.
Fred leaves his beloved wife of 49 years, Eleanor (Smith) Mapes; his sons, Lon D. Mapes and his wife, Diane and their daughters, Kylee and Ashley and Hal J. Mapes and his daughters, Sabrina and Alyssa and their mother, Laura Mapes; his brothers, Douglas Mapes and his wife, Shirley of New York and Herbert Mapes, Sr. of Virginia; his sisters, Nancy Seekins and Patricia Buncy both of New York; and nieces and nephews.
