Richard A. Dell

June 7, 1945 — January 28, 2016

STERLING/GARDNER - Richard A. Dell, 70, of Sterling, passed away peacefully with his loving wife Pamela by his side on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. Born and raised in Gardner, Rick was the son of Albert E. and Florence Mae (Bailey) Dell and lived the last 21 years in Sterling. He leaves his best friend and wife of 21 years, Pamela K. (Cleveland) Dell; two stepsons, Christopher S. Toutellot of Hawaii and Jason L. Dell and his wife, Nicole of Hubbardston; a sister, Nancy Dell of Gardner; three granddaughters, Amanda Foresman and her husband, Ross, Lauren and Sophia Dell; two great grandsons, Owen and Aiden Forseman. Rick also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will truly miss him. Rick graduated from Gardner High School and later received his associates degree from Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner. In 1965 during the Vietnam War, Rick enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a staff sergeant with the 306th Combat Support Group - Strategic Air Command until being honorably discharged in 1969. The last 15 years of his working career, Rick worked as the parts department manager at Superior Forklift Company in Fitchburg. He was a member of the First Church in Sterling, the American Legion Post #129, Gardner, and was a past president and lifetime member of the Napoleon Club also in Gardner. One of his favorite past times was playing golf. He enjoyed playing at Wachusett Country Club and was a member of Gardner Country Club where he played in the couples league with his wife as recently as last fall. He and Pam also enjoyed spending time at their vacation home in Myrtle Beach where they played many championship courses together. Rick truly enjoyed the company of others and will be missed by his many lifelong friends with whom he played cards at the Napoleon Club in Gardner and the pitch league at the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204 in West Boylston.
