Richard Curtis

March 7, 1922 — May 6, 2012

HOLDEN – Richard Curtis, 90, died peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester after an illness. He was born in Worcester, the son of Frank and Helen Rose (Wilson) Curtis and was a lifelong resident of Holden.



His wife of 59 years, Leota L. (LaPrade) Curtis died on March 28, 2012. He is survived by a son, Richard L. Curtis and his wife Michele of Westford; two daughters, Karen R. Manseau and Patricia E. Curtis both of Worcester; three grandchildren, Aimee Manseau, Elizabeth Curtis and Brigitte Manseau; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four brothers, Frank, Fred and William Curtis and James Doucette.



Richard graduated from Holden High School class of 1940. He delivered milk for Sunrise Dairy Farm in Holden before becoming a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Holden for 30 years. After retiring he worked in security at Curtis Industries in Worcester. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Holden Council on Aging, and former member of the Holden Grange and volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels.



Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, May 10, 2012, followed by a funeral service at 12 noon at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boys Town National Headquarters, 200 Flanagan Boulevard, P.O. Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mass Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
