Richard F. Castonguay

WEST BOYLSTON - Richard F Castonguay, 88, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Sterling Village after an illness. He was born in Worcester, the son of Onesime E. and Lucinda A. (Fontaine) Castonguay Obrien and had lived in West Boylston for over 50 years.

His loving wife of 62 years, Lucy I. (Luksevish) Castonguay, passed away in 2009. He leaves two sons, Richard F. Castonguay of Broken Bow, OK and Frank L. Castonguay of Navarre, FL: two daughters, Sheila A. Supernor of West Boylston and Susan J. Lee of Ramona, CA; a sister, Rachelle Peluso of Dudley; seven grandchildren; Corey and Brett Supernor, Jeffrey, Michael, Frank and Jared Castonguay and Jennifer Gerk; 13 great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Philip Castonguay.

Richard was a motor machinist's mate 2nd class Seabee in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served with the 105th Construction Battalion Company D in the south pacific. He was a truck mechanic at Stop & Shop for many years before retiring in 1988. Previously he worked for 25 years at CK Smith. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and enjoyed working in his garden. Richard was a loving and dedicated family man who lived for his family. He will be sadly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Birch Unit of Sterling Village and the Brookhaven Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown to our father over the last 11 months.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 11, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Mr. Castonguay’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 12, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston. Burial will follow at High Plains Cemetery in Oakdale. Please omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
