HOLDEN – Richard A. Buffone, 58, of Princeton Street, Jefferson, died on Saturday, August 14, 2010 in UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester, after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves his wife, Maureen A. (Kruszynski) Buffone; a son, Richard C. Buffone and his girlfriend Jennifer of Worcester; three step-daughters, Michelle Boyce and her husband George of Pennsylvania, Bethany Molnar and her husband AJ of Paxton and Erica Ferguson of Holden; a sister, Janice Weits and her husband Frans of Oceanside, California; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Buffone of San Marcos, California; and many cousins from Worcester. A brother, John Buffone, predeceased him. He was born in Gardner, raised in Westminster, a son of Angelo Frank and Serena Mary (Norris) Buffone, and has lived over 25 years in Holden.
Richard was a 1969 graduate of Oakmont Regional High School. He worked for the Wachusett Regional School District for 29 years, most recently as head custodian at Central Tree Middle School in Rutland. He also owned and operated Mt. Wachusett Chimney Sweeps in Jefferson. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and sang in its former folk group. Music was an important part of his life. He played the acoustic and electric guitars and was a member of "Time Capsule" and most recently "Sootprints".
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 19th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral will be held on Friday, August 20th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522.
