RUTLAND – Rhoda L. (Hartman) Haines Smith, 95, of 8 Glenwood Road, died Sunday, November 14, 2004 at home.
Her husband, Arthur L. Smith, died in 1993. Her first husband, Frederic N. Haines, died in 1972. She leaves a son, F. Robert Haines; a daughter, Gail R. Johnson; three grandchildren, Juliane Anderson, George Johnson and Kimberly Haines; a great-grandson, Tyler Anderson all of Rutland. She also leaves nieces and nephews including, Wilfred Aulenback with whom she lived. A son, Donald H. Haines, two brothers, Victor and Robert W. Hartman, and two sisters, Hilda McKinley and Olive Aulenback, predeceased her.
She was born in Mount Pleasant, Nova Scotia, daughter of Willis and Lydia (Page) Hartman, and lived in Worcester before moving to Rutland in 1949. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland. She enjoyed gardening, baking and needlework.
The funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester. There are no calling hours.
