HOLDEN – Rene Raymond Arell, 92, formerly of Jefferson, died on Saturday, October 6, 2012 in the Jewish Healthcare Center, Worcester, after a period of declining health. He was the loving husband for 66 years of Enis “Unes” (Occhialini) Arell.
He was born in Auburn, son of Louis and Lena (Delude) Arell and raised in Jefferson. During World War II, he proudly served his country as a SeaBee with the U.S. Navy, 113th Naval Construction Battalion in the Pacific Theatre.
Rene was a pipefitter and die maker at National Standard Company-Worcester Wire Works Division, for 41 years. He was a member and Communicant at St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson, and after retirement, an active member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, Friends of the Holden Council on Aging and the V.F.W. Post 6907 in West Boylston.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sons and their families: Paul and his wife Dana of Centennial, Colorado, Robert and his wife Mary of Bangor, Maine; grandson, Andrew Arell and his wife Lindsay of Crested Butte, Colorado, granddaughter, Emily (Arell) Beyer and her husband Michael of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and grandson, Michael Arell of Bangor; and great-grandsons, Asher and Isaac. He is also survived by his sisters, Rita Nygard of Holden, Jeanette Morin and her husband Joseph of Leominster; sister-in-law, Blanche Arell of Holden and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Arell and his sister, Lorraine (Arell) Fleming.
Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, October 9, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Holden.
