WEST BOYLSTON – Remo Rossi, Sr., 94, died Friday, August 27, 2004, in Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center.
His wife of 26 years, Mary A. (Rolleri) Rossi, died in 1975. He leaves a son, Remo J. Rossi of Sterling; a daughter, Geraldine R. Rossi of Sterling; and four grandchildren. A brother and three sisters predeceased him. He was born on July 13, 1910 in Bardi, Italy, son of Antonio and Rose Rossi, and immigrated to America in September, 1939, just before World War II started leaving behind a thriving mercantile business in Northern France. He joined his family and eventually opened a restaurant and boarding house in Monroe, New York. In 1998 he moved to Holden and a year later to West Boylston at the Oakdale Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center where he will be greatly missed by his friends.
A Memorial Mass for Mr. Rossi will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2004 in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling is directing arrangements.
