Reginald A. Judson

June 14, 1921 — December 19, 2011

HOLDEN – Reginald A. Judson, 90, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester after an illness.



He leaves his wife of 40 years, Eileen T. (McLoughlin) Judson; two sons, Gerald Judson of Barefoot Bay, FL and Ronald Judson of Putney, VT; two daughters, Marilyn Buhlmann of Battleboro, VT and Joan Judson of Natick; a sister, Constance Tower of East Windsor, CT; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-sons, Dean, Keith and Glen Gustafson; several nephews, nieces and cousins. His first wife, Thelma (Skerry) Judson, predeceased him.



Reginald was born in Stamford, CT, the son of Reginald A. and Susan (French) Judson, Sr. He was a 1940 graduate of Sanford High School in Sanford, Maine and enlisted in the military in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an airplane mechanic with the Eagle Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, 8th Army Air Force in England.



He worked his entire career in the truck and automobile industry. Until his retirement to Pocasset, MA in 1986, he worked for 14 years as a sales manager and general manager at Tuck’s Truck Sales in Hudson. Reggie (Reginald) was an avid golfer and was known by all as an overall handyman!



Reginald spent his retirement years volunteering for many organizations and serving on many local committees: Elder Services of Cape Cod, President and director of Upper Cape and Falmouth Chapters of AARP. He received the Service to Community Award by AARP and was a Friend of the Bourne Council on Aging. He also belonged to the Association of the Fourth Fighter Group AAF World War II, the Bourne Historical Society, the Republican Committee and was a trustee of the Bourne Veterans Memorial Community Center. Since moving to Holden in 2007, he was a member of the Holden American Legion Post 42.



Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A private committal service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury on a date convenient to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
