STERLING - Raymond Herbert Fisher, 94, passed away at home on Sunday, April 8, 2018. Born and raised in Worcester, Raymond was the son of Charles E. and Marion (Rugg) Fisher. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and earned a degree from the School of Industrial Management at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Trained as a licensed Oil Burner Technician, Raymond worked several years in the Leominster area. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and honorable served his country during World War II with Company C, 580th Signal Air Warning Battalion in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. After returning home from the service, he worked many years for several area envelope companies in Worcester, Springfield and Stoughton. He was a member of Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204 in West Boylston. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, and reading. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Clare (Bartley) Fisher; sons, Noel Fisher and his wife, Jayne (Hainsworth) Fisher of Petersham, Gary Fisher and his wife Mary (Estelle) Fisher of Sterling; his brother, Merton Fisher and his wife June (Vigneault) Fisher of Leicester; five grandchildren, Candace Fisher and fiancé, Jerry Julian and Garrett Fisher and wife Stephanie (Whiting) Fisher all of Sterling, Nicole (Fisher) Gaudet and husband, Adam Gaudet of the Canadian Army of Petawawa, Canada, Caitlin (Fisher) Goss and husband, Retired Corporal Devon Goss, USMC of Petersham, and Sgt. Raymond Fisher USMC and his wife, Patience (Champney) Fisher of Chicopee; three great- grandchildren, Cassidy Goss and Jaxson Goss both of Petersham and Iris Fisher of Chicopee; and many nephews and nieces. A granddaughter, Phanessa Fisher of Sterling predeceased him in 2002. A service for Raymond will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. The Miles-Sterling Funeral/Tribute Center is assisting the family with arrangements,100 Worcester Rd., Sterling.
