WORCESTER - Raymond Alger, born on July 18, 1940 in Worcester, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at the age of 84, residing at Odd Fellows Nursing Home at the time of his passing. Raymond was a man of quiet strength and deep thought, whose life journey was marked by commitment to his beliefs and his community.
Raymond’s early years included a brief period of military service, after which he started his profession as a painter and handyman. He returned to his studies later in life and earned a bachelor’s degree in communication, an achievement that reflected both his intellectual curiosity and his commitment to personal growth.
Working as a handyman/painter, Raymond was marked by care and precision – qualities that extended into all areas of his life. Whether restoring a room with some needed updates or helping with a small restoration project, Raymond was always willing to lend a hand.
As a man of faith and contemplation, Raymond found solace in church and spiritual reflection. Attending the church in Wildwood, when possible, he found fellowship there. As time passed, he remained faithful to his beliefs even though he could no longer travel to attend services.
Raymond had a deep appreciation for the natural world. He loved gardening and spending time outdoors, where he could observe the rhythms of nature with the thoughtful presence that those who knew him came to cherish. He also has a passion for the arts – particularly painting – and found joy in films and music that stirred the imagination.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Selena Alger; grandchildren Alissa Cimmino, Elizah Munroe-Taylor, and Dylan Alger; sister Carolyn McCubrey; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Selina Monroe and sister Jean Alhstrom.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 4th, at Rural Cemetery, 140 Main St., Rutland. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
May Raymond’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and peace to those who carry forward his quiet legacy.
