Ramazan 'Ray' Cevik

January 4, 1971 — December 20, 2015

Biography

PAXTON – Ramazan “Ray” Cevik, 44, passed away on Sunday, December 20, at his home surrounded by friends and family, after a three year battle with stomach cancer. Born on January 4, 1971 in Marmaris, Turkey, he was the son of Nadir and Zeliha Cevik. After completing technical school and serving in the Turkish Army, Ramazan joined his brother in the U.S. in 1997 where he became the owner of Café Mirror in Brighton before returning to his craft of metal fabrication.

Ramazan dedicated his life to building his business, Demir Metalcraft in Worcester, and to provide for his family. He was known for his generosity, his uncompromising work ethic, and his boundless love for his wife and two children. Ramazan fought his illness with an endless supply of strength, courage and determination, and never lost sight of hope for a cure. He was a warrior like no other, and will be sadly missed by all who had the honor and privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 15 years, Laura (Privitera) Cevik, his children Aydin, 10, and Saide, 8; his brother, Tamer Cevik and sister, Filiz Cevik; four nephews and one niece; and many in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to MGH Cancer Center and JHC Hospice, especially Ray’s nurses, Renee and Kelly, for the wonderful care provided to him and the whole family. They would also like to thank the Paxton community for the incredible support they have received over the past three years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 2, at 3 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 6 p.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A private committal service was held at Hope Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cevik Children's Fund, c/o Webster Five Bank, 266 Chandler Street, Worcester, MA 01602.To share a memory or offer an online condolence, visit our "Guest Book" here on our page.
