BOYLSTON – Ralph O. Wagner, Jr., 72, of 65 Main Street, died Saturday, August 13, 2005, in UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Betty Lou (Ostberg) Wagner; four sons, Paul D., Jeffrey O., Kenneth J., and James A. Wagner, all of Boylston; two brothers, Richard A. Wagner of Sturbridge and Ronald W. Wagner of Boylston; four grandchildren, Paul D., Jr., Kenneth “John”, Jr., Michelle A. and Julian J. Wagner of Boylston; several nieces and nephews. He was born in Milford, son of Ralph O. and Adeline C. (Wisner) Wagner, Sr., was raised in Holden and lived in Boylston since 1961. He graduated Holden High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Gatling during the Korean War.
Mr. Wagner was Owner and Operator of Wagner Brothers, Inc. in Boylston where he worked for 40 years. He was superintendent of the Boylston Water District for over 30 years and a member of the American Legion Post 398 in Boylston.
The funeral service for Mr. Wagner will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, in the First Congregational Church of Boylston, 10 Church Street, Boylston. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Scarhill Road, Boylston. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 10 Church Street, Boylston, MA 01505; or to a charity of one’s choice.
