Ralph B. Nourse

STERLING – Ralph B. Nourse, 93, of Rugg Road, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 in Clinton Hospital.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Mary E. (St. Martin) Nourse; two sons, Paul A. Nourse and his wife Tracy of Sterling and their children, Amanda and Cooper, John D. Nourse and his wife Diane of Leominster and their children and grandchildren; two daughters, Nancy M. Hagberg and her husband David of Sterling and their children Neil and Andrew, Susan B. Nourse of Freeport, ME; nieces, Margaret McGee and Beverly MacCollom; his special friend, Peter Tosi and his Tuesday visitor, Don Abare. A sister, Marion MacCollom and a nephew, Andrew MacCollom, predeceased him. He was born in Clinton, son of Arthur H. and Maude A. (Boothby) Nourse, and lived in Sterling most of his life. He attended Sterling Schools and was a graduate of North High School in Worcester. He attended Becker College and was a graduate of Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Mr. Nourse owned and operated the Red Rock Dairy Farm in Sterling. He was self-employed as a heavy equipment operator. He was a Selectman for the Town of Sterling for nine years, special policeman and volunteer firefighter for the Town of Sterling, and a member and master of the Sterling Grange #53. He was also a member of the First Church in Sterling, charter member of the Chocksett Club, member of the Trinity Lodge of Masons in Clinton, a Farm Bureau Agent, and a
4-H club member and leader.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 on Thursday, October 23rd, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A memorial service for Mr. Nourse will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 24th, in the First Church in Sterling, 6 Meeting House Hill Road, Sterling. Burial will be private in West Cemetery, Bolton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Sterling Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564; or the Chocksett Club, 5 Tanglewood Road, Sterling, MA 01564.
