Biography
WORCESTER- Rae (Fins) Landgarten, age 91, died on Saturday, March 17, in Wentworth Senior Living Residence in Portsmouth, NH.
Her husband of 35 years, Gerald Landgarten, died in 1982. She leaves her children, Harriette (Holly) Landgarten of Kittery, ME, Barbi, wife of Paul Schulick of Brattleboro, VT, and Michael Landgarten and his wife, Samantha Curran of Kittery Point, ME; a brother, Irving Fins of Concord, MA; six grandchildren, Geremy Schulick and his wife, Jennifer Stock, Jesse Landgarten Fox, Rachael (Landgarten), wife of Anthony DiLorenzo, Rosalie Schulick, Laura Landgarten Fox and Mischa Landgarten; and one great grandson, Rocco DiLorenzo. She was predeceased by her brothers, Albert and David Fins.
She was born in Cuba, the daughter of Morris and Bienvenida (Yohay) Fins and was raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and in Brooklyn. She had lived in Worcester for 22 years, then in Framingham, MA until moving to Kittery, ME 15 years ago.
She was an avid Duplicate Bridge player. She loved to play tennis and golf. She was a long time member of the Beth Israel Synagogue and Temple Emanuel. She had a spectacular laugh and was deeply loved by those she touched, right up until the end when she moved the hearts of her aides and nurses. A remarkably talented cook in the Sephardic Jewish tradition, she nourished her family and friends for decades. She kept a warm, well-organized home, inbued with great care and is remembered by her children and grandchildren with a fierce abiding love.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1:00 P.M. ON MONDAY, MARCH 19, 2018 IN BETH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE, 15 JAMESBURY DRIVE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B’nai Brith Cemetery.
