WEST BOYLSTON / PAXTON - R. Marion (Ojerholm) McTigue, 96, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center after an illness. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of C. Hugo and Irene M. (Alix) (Ojerholm) Collins and graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1935.
Her husband of 14 years, Edward V. McTigue, passed away in 1955. She leaves a son, Edward V. McTigue, Jr. and his wife, Jane of Paxton; two daughters, Maureen E. Osthues of West Boylston and Karen L. Longo and her husband, Emanuel of Leominster; a sister-in-law, Nancy Collins of Webster; seven grandchildren: Gregory Osthues; Lisa Osthues and her fiancé, Richard Howell; Gina O’Connor and her husband, James; Emanuel Longo, Jr.; Andrea Longo; Melina McTigue and her fiancé, W. Scott Garland; and Edward McTigue III; five great-grandchildren: Margaret, Elizabeth, Aaron, William and Lea; and many nephews and nieces. Her brother, Clifton Collins, predeceased her.
Marion was a cashier at New England Telephone for 27 years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and enjoyed summers at Cape Neddick, Maine. A creative and talented woman, she especially enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Marion will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, Oct. 11, with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made NEADS, PO Box 213, West Boylston, MA 01583.
