WEST BOYLSTON – Vivian P. (Rumrill) Lindholm Cheever, 85, of Keyes Street in the Oakdale section of West Boylston, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, February 1, 2009.
She leaves her husband of 25 years, David N. Cheever; a son, Edward P. Lindholm and his wife Nancy of Brookline; a daughter, Pamela I. Lindholm of Holden; a step-son, Richard M. Cheever and his wife Mary of Carlisle; three step-daughters, Ruth A. Garcia and her husband Nelson of Gaithersburg, MD, Carolyn M. Williams and her partner Gail Martin of Natick and Margaret J. Kiel and her husband Steven of Ware; a brother, George L. Rumrill of Hartland, Vermont; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her first husband, Paul F. Lindholm, died in 1969 and a son, Andrew Lindholm died in 1999. A brother, Edward Rumrill predeceased her. She was born in Brooklyn, CT, daughter of George H. and Annette (Bernier) Rumrill, and lived many years in Worcester before moving to Oakdale in 1983.
Vivian graduated from Commerce High School in 1941 and worked for Heald Machine Co., Heald Building Supplies and Sterling Lumber Company. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and a former member of St. George's Church in Worcester. She was also a member of the American Business Women's Association (Worcester Charter Chapter), West Boylston Council on Aging and the Women's Health Initiative. Vivian volunteered at the First Congregational Church of Holden's Thrift Shop and earned the Volunteer of the Year award from the APICS. She enjoyed gardening and knitting.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral for Vivian will be held on Thursday, February 5th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston. Spring burial will be in High Plain Cemetery, Oakdale. In lieu of flowers, donations will be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
