WORCESTER, MA/CHESTER, VT - Priscilla “Pete” Heald, 89, long-time resident of Chester, VT, died peacefully at her home in Worcester on Wednesday, September 11, 2013.
She is survived by a son, Prescott Heald of Davis, CA; two daughters, Cynthia Murch and her husband Andrew of Worcester and Susan Heald and her husband Ian Root of Ennis, MT.; two grandchildren, Christopher Murch and Kimberly Holloway and her husband Stephen, and a great-grandson, Myles Holloway, all of Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman and two sisters, Carol and Elaine Mason.
Pete was born and raised in Raynham, daughter of Charles and Ruth (Olendorf) Hodges. She graduated from Taunton High School and Middlebury College. She lived in Chester for more than 60 years before moving to Worcester last year. Pete worked as a physical therapist at Mary Hitchcock Hospital, Springfield Hospital and the Visiting Nurse Association.
She will be remembered for her love of skiing, hiking, tennis, the Red Sox, and many outdoor activities.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the First Universalist Church on North Street in Chester, Vermont on Wednesday, September 18 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Vermont Food Bank or the Trust for Public Lands. Memorial arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
