HOLDEN/BRIGHTON – Priscilla A. (Carlson) Holman, 82, formerly of Holden, died peacefully at the Brighton House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Thursday, January 23, 2014. Born and raised in Norwood, Priscilla was the daughter of Manfred E. and Ellen B. (Whittier) Carlson.
She graduated from Norwood High School and the Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Her career started in the delivery room at the Norwood Hospital and continued as a staff nurse at Anna Maria College in Paxton and at the Fallon Clinic on Plantation Street in Worcester.
She married the love of her life, Donald H. Holman, in 1958 and spent most of her married life in Holden, where she lived for over 35 years. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last May. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Scott Holman and his wife, Diane of Manhattan, NY, and James E. Holman and his wife, Beth of Natick; a daughter, Jayne E. Stevenson and her husband, John of North Reading; a brother, LeRoy Carlson and his wife, Joan of Middlesex, VT; five grandchildren, Miles and Brendan Holman, Ellie and Kate Holman, and Zoe Stevenson; and nieces and nephews.
Priscilla took great joy in spending time with her family and in her friendships, many of which were life-long.
A Memorial Service honoring and celebrating Priscilla’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, at the First Congregational Church of Holden. Burial will be private in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
