S Janet P. (Rice) Cummings

WEST BOYLSTON – Janet P. (Rice) Cummings, 70, of 23 High Street, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, after a brief illness.

Her husband of 40 years, Charles H. Cummings, died in 1997. She leaves her daughter, Jill D. Cummings and her husband William T. Nicholson of West Boylston; four brothers, John and Charles Prentiss of Hubbardston, Douglas Rice of Princeton and Brad Rice of California; two sisters, Joyce McManus of Florida and Jean Prentiss of Maryland. Her step-father, Kenneth Rice, predeceased her. She was born in Gardner, daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Bates) Prentiss, and lived in Hubbardston and Norwood before moving to West Boylston.

Mrs. Cummings was a member of the first graduating class from Wachusett Regional High School. She worked for Needham Cooperative Bank in Westwood for 19 years. She was a member of Oakdale United Methodist Church.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 25th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Mrs. Cummings will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Oakdale United Methodist Church, 15 North Main Street, West Boylston. Burial will follow in High Plain Cemetery, West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Angell Memorial Animal Hospital, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
