WORCESTER - Pinkhus Gurevich, age 94, of Brookline, formerly of Worcester, died on Tuesday, January 15 in Hebrew Rehabilitation Center of Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham.
His wife of 52 years Rhoda (Volpyansky) Gurevich died in 1998. He leaves two daughters, Anna, wife of Edward Gershenson of Pittsfield, and Eva Honig of Framingham, four grandchildren, Shulamit and Gabriella Gershenson and Ruben and Naomi Honig and four great-grandchildren, Eitan, Gaia, Ella and Corina. He was predeceased by his sister, Khana Suyer.
For many years, he had been employed as a cutter at Worcester Knitting Company.
During World War II, he fought in the Soviet Army.
He was born in Latvia and was a son of Moshe and Chava (Gurvich) Gurevich and came to Worcester in 1976 and lived here for 24 years before moving to Brookline 9 years ago. He had been a longtime member of Congregation Beth Israel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, today, Thursday, January 17 in Congregation Beth Israel, 15 Jamesbury Drive, Worcester, under the direction of Miles Funeral Home of Holden. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery in Worcester. Memorial Observance will be announced at the time of the funeral service.
