Biography
WORCESTER - Phyllis S. (Goldberg) Dorfman, 94, lifelong Worcester resident, daughter of the late Leon and Frances Glick Goldberg died on Thursday, December 11, 2014.
She is survived by her husband, Sidney Dorfman. They cherished each other with love for seventy-one years of marriage. She was a wise and gracious mother to her son, Robert Dorfman and his wife, Miriam, and her son- in- law, Steven Gould and her daughter, Carol Dorfman Gould who predeceased her in 1995. She leaves grandchildren, Suzanne and Andrew Lampert of Chicago, IL, Jeffrey Gould and his wife, Abby Ladd of Silver Springs, MD, Lindsay Dorfman, Jacqueline and John Manning, Stefanie Dorfman and Caroline Dorfman of Cotuit, MA; great-grandchildren, Carrie and Eliza Lampert, Ariella Manning and twins, Graham and India Gould.
Phyllis was a dedicated and important employee of the United States War Production Board during World War II, Whitcomb & Jordan clothiers and Bancroft Securities.
Phyllis was an avid duplicate bridge player and teacher as well as a Life Master, a member of the Cavendish Club, and the Jewish Community Center Bridge Club. She was a champion golfer and a member of the Mount.Pleasant Country Club. Phyllis was well known as a gourmet baker and cook. She was a long time contributor to the Worcester Jewish Federation, B’nai Brith and supported liberal causes.
Phyllis will be remembered as a warm, gracious and loving friend.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2:00 PM ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14TH IN TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI, 280 MAY STREET, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith Cemetery, 55 St. John's Road, Worcester.
Immediately following the interment service at B’Nai Brith Cemetery, Memorial Observance will be held through Sunday Afternoon, December 14th at the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester.
