HOLDEN, SOUTH BARRE – Philomena (Lapati) DiCicco, 84, of Fruit Street, Holden, formerly a 50-year resident of South Barre, died Friday, April 21, 2006, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester after an illness. Her husband, Roger J. DiCicco, died in 1988. On April 21st, they would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
She leaves her daughter, Beverly J. Handy and her husband Roger of Holden; two grandchildren, Matthew T. Careau of Princeton and Andrew J. Careau and his wife Kristen of Bellingham; a brother, Americo Lapati of North Providence, Rhode Island; a sister, Lenora Tulli of Ocala, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in North Providence, the daughter of Andrew and Josephine (Farrar) Lapati.
Mrs. DiCicco moved to Barre with her husband Ruggiero “Roger” before moving to Holden where she lived with her daughter. She was an inspector for ECC in Jefferson, retiring in 1983. She also worked for the Barre Wool Combing Co. in South Barre. She loved her grandsons and centered her life around them helping them to grow. She looked forward to soccer and baseball games and ROTC ceremonies. She took great pride in what they did.
The Funeral Mass for Mrs. DiCicco will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, South Barre Road, Barre. A calling period will be held from 8:30–9:45 a.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, prior to the service.
